When I was traveling around Taiwan, one of the restaurants I visited had this really interesting Tofu salad dish. It was literally tofu with some soy sauce and green onions.

And I was glad that I did.
This tofu salad dish although simple to the eyes, is packed with lots of flavor that will have your mouth screaming for more and more.
I ended up ordering like 2 or 3 more plates of this dish because I just loved the flavor it provides. Plus, I am a lover of tofu so any tofu dish will get instant brownie points with me.
Because I liked this dish so much, I wanted to learn how to make it So I ended up asking the chef for tips on how he made this dish.
And in this post, I will be sharing with you exactly the steps he used to make this wonderful Tofu With Soy Sauce Salad / 小蔥拌豆腐 dish.
What Kind Of Tofu To Use?
In all honesty, if you want to make this Tofu With Soy Sauce Salad / 小蔥拌豆腐 dish, you can use any type of tofu you want. It doesn’t matter if it is soft, firm or even hard as they will all work.
However it is my personal recommendation to use “Silken Tofu” to make this dish.
The reason I say this is because silken tofu is often used for desserts. Plus it is silky and creamy in texture and has the highest amount of water content.
An example of what a packaged silken tofu looks like is in this picture:

You can easily spot silken tofu as it is pretty easy to find in almost any tofu section. Plus it is also labeled as “Silken Tofu”, so you can’t miss it!
But if you can’t find silken tofu, then it is perfectly fine to use any other tofu you are able to find.
What Is Tamari Soy Sauce?
Tamari Soy Sauce is a variety of soy sauce that is commonly used for Japanese dishes. This type of soy sauce is usually made with no wheat which makes it gluten free as well. It also provides a lot more flavor than your typical soy sauce. Plus the color is also darker and the taste is more balanced as well as being less salty then some of the other soy sauces out there.
All of which makes this a perfect choice for dipping things in it.

First take out your block of silken tofu from the box and place it on a serving dish.
Then cut the block of tofu into 1/2 to 1 cm slices and gently push down on it so that the slices can start to lean towards one end of the dish.

Take your green onions and thinly slice them into tiny pieces.
Then sprinkle the sliced green onions all over the sliced tofu.

Pour your cooking oil into a pot or pan and heat it over medium heat.
Once the oil is hot enough to make a dramatic sizzle, turn off the heat and pour the oil all over the spring onions.
