Gà Xào Sả Ớt or Vietnamese Lemongrass Chicken, is a very simple and easy dish to make that is perfect to eat any time of the year. With the tender and juicy meat of the chicken combined with the lemony flavors of the lemongrass, it makes for one of the best dishes you'll ever have. And best of all is that it can all be made in under an hour.

Meat Ingredient

  • 2 Lb Chicken Thigh Meat

Marinating Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoon Fish Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Chicken Bouillon Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemongrass Minced

Additional Ingredients

  • 3 Thai Chili Peppers Chopped
  • 1 Shallot Chopped
  • 4 Cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemongrass Minced
  • 2 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 Cup Coconut Water


Marinating The Chicken

  • First Thing you'll want to do is to chop up the chicken thigh meat into smaller pieces.
  • Then grab a large bowl and add in your chopped chicken thigh meat. Then add in all of your seasonings (Fish Sauce, Sugar, Salt, Turmeric Powder, Black Pepper, Chicken Bouillon Powder and Lemongrass).
    Mix everything really well and let it rest for about 30 minutes or longer.

Making The Vietnamese Lemongrass Chicken Dish

  • Before you cook your dish, you have to prep a few things.
    On a cutting board, chop up your garlic, Thai chili peppers and shallots into tiny minced pieces. Then set it aside.
  • Grab a large wok and pour some oil into it over medium high heat.
    Once the oil is hot enough, add in your minced garlic, Thai chili peppers, shallots and lemongrass. Mix everything together and cook it until it starts to get really fragrant.
  • Grab your bowl with the marinating chicken and dump the entire thing into the wok to cook. Stir things around and cook it for around 5 minutes or so until the chicken gets some nice color on it.
    After that, pour in your coconut water and stir things around. Cover the wok with a lid and let it continue to cook for 10 minutes.
  • Once time is up, open the lid and stir things around.
    Turn off the heat. Your chicken should be done cooking by now.
    Serve immediately.
